Terms & Conditions

Draft document. These terms have not yet been reviewed by a solicitor. We recommend seeking your own advice before relying on them, and we intend to have them professionally reviewed in due course.

1. About us

Henry Matthews, trading as Norwich Crate Hire ("we", "us") hires out reusable plastic moving crates. Serving Norwich and a 5-mile radius. Contact: info@norwichcratehire.co.uk.

2. Hire and booking

Crates are hired, never sold. Online bookings are for a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 20 crates, for hire periods of 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks. Longer hires and larger orders are available by enquiry and quotation. A booking is confirmed once we accept it and payment has been received. You may have a right to cancel your order — see our Cancellation Policy for details.

3. Delivery

Delivery is free within Norwich and a 5-mile radius. Delivery must be booked at least 3 days in advance. You are responsible for providing safe access and accurate address details. If we are unable to deliver on the agreed date, we will contact you as soon as possible to rearrange delivery or, if we cannot fulfil the booking, offer a full refund.

4. Returns and collection

Your return date is the delivery date plus your chosen hire period and is shown before checkout. You may return crates yourself free of charge, or select our collection service for a flat fee of £15 regardless of quantity. The £15 collection fee applies where crates are collected from an address within our service area. If the crates need to be collected from an address outside our service area — for example if you relocate further away during your hire period — collection will be by quotation only, in the same way as an out-of-area enquiry.

5. Extensions

Extensions may be requested before the return date and are granted subject to crate availability. Extensions are charged at the standard per-crate rate for the additional period.

6. Late, damaged or lost crates

A charge of £15 per crate applies where crates are not returned or collected by the end of the agreed hire period (including any approved extension). A charge of £15 per crate also applies to any crate returned damaged beyond normal wear, or not returned at all. Before any damage charge is applied, we will notify you and provide supporting evidence (such as photos). You may query a charge by contacting us within 14 days of the notice.

7. Use of crates

Crates must be used for domestic or commercial packing only, kept clean, and must not be used to carry hazardous, flammable or perishable materials. You are responsible for the crates from delivery until return or collection.

8. Liability

We are not liable for damage to items packed inside crates, except where caused by our negligence or breach of these terms. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, and nothing limits liability which cannot be limited by law. We recommend that you check your own contents insurance covers items while packed in hired crates.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
